FTD offers insight into emotions

Frontotemporal dementia usually emerges in the right side of the brain, where it causes dramatic changes in behavior and emotions, including disinhibition and apathy. When FTD emerges on the left side of the brain, it causes a slow disintegration of language and speech. In some of these patients, visual creativity emerges, even while their minds are deteriorating.
