The Academy of Learning Nanaimo BC College and Career campus in the central Vancouver Island region is a private post-secondary facility that offers the Resident Care Attendant / Assisted Living Attendant / Home Support Worker program that prepares students to work with individuals at home, in assisted-living settings, or continuing care facilities. The RCA program in Nanaimo covers concepts relating to personal care, communication, socialization, nutrition; health and wellness along with thoughtful problem-solving and “care of the self” are taught as essential components of becoming a successful caregiver. The Resident Care Attendant / Assisted Living Attendant / Home Support Worker program in Nanaimo is taught entirely on-site in a local Care Home facility in the city of Nanaimo BC and includes nine (9) weeks of Supervised Clinical Experience and is paced to give the learner confidence with knowledge and skills and insights to the satisfaction of a caring attitude.? A very practical, hands-on method of learning in which you get to work directly in a long-term care facility. The program uses a combination of lectures, demonstrations, assignments, videos, reviews, examinations, clinical experience, fitness exercises and self awareness and development workshops to prepare the student. Upon successful completion of this program students are also awarded the following certificates:
