We ask ourselves how we got to the point of being overweight? Calorie surplus is the layman answer we are looking for. You get a surplus of calories when you go overboard the recommended dietary allowance. Excess calories do not get burned and gets stored in the body as extra sugar or body fat.

If a person develops eating habits that result to caloric imbalance, then the tendency is for that person progress from being overweight to obese.

Aside from over eating, other factors affecting weight gain and obesity are genetics, other help problems, lifestyle and limitations to some physical activities.

Metabolism is the relative rate of consuming and burning the food that we eat. Metabolic rates vary from person to person. This person to person difference is what we call Basal Metabolic Rate.

Our modern lifestyles and the combination of what we do are now the most common causes of obesity. With modern technology, we don’t need to move around much. But as our lives seem to progress, it is ironic that the environment we live in seems to become more and more stressful. The stress brought about by the environment causes us to live less physically active and stationary lifestyles.

With this type of lifestyle, we develop very poor eating habits. There is little time left for preparing homemade food and junk fast food seems like a common option. Weigh gain and obesity results from this type of lifestyle.

Aside from the inconvenience of being overweight, there are health risks associated with it. Health risks associated with obesity are diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, serious heart conditions, fatty liver, heart failure, dementia, gallstones and osteoarthritis. The physical problems as well as health problems causes obese people to fall in a downward spiral of weight gain problems.

What is the best practice to lose weight? Almost everyone will say diet and exercise. But if we are not the masters of self-control? Here is where supplements come into play.

There are fat burners and appetite suppressants in the market to help us in our weight loss regimen. Appetite suppressants reduce appetite and increase satiety. Noradrenaline release gets a boost with appetite suppresants. This is the hormone that says the body is full. There are other appetite suppressants that work through the endo-cannabinoid system.

Different weight loss pills have various claims on how they work. Some decrease fat absorption and others work as fat reducers by increasing metabolic rates. Some pills have multiple effects as fat burners, appetite suppressants and muscle builders.
