Alzheimer’s Disease – Where Do We Stand?

How close are we to a cure for Alzheimer’ disease (AD)? Recent clinical trials have revealed that immunotherapy disrupts toxic deposits of amyloid protein that build up in the brains of AD patients. Unfortunately, successful disruption of amyloid deposits did not have an equal impact on dementia. Scientists are evaluating the data and their ideas as to how AD destroys the brain and how best to treat it. A cure for AD is not imminent, making prevention efforts vital now and for the foreseeable future. See www.spectrumradionetwork.com for an audio interview covering these topics
